About the North Florida School
- North Florida School was founded in 1992 with four students and has grown to serve over 70 students for the 2007-2008 school year.
- The mission of NFS is to improve the academic, vocational, and social lives of children with mild to moderate developmental disabilities.
- Students at North Florida School range in ages from 7-22 years and have a developmental disabilities including Cerebral Palsy, Down syndrome, mental handicaps, genetic disorders, autism, Williams syndrome, Golden Har syndrome, heart conditions, head trauma, obsessive compulsive disorder, seizure disorders, stroke, visually handicaps, fragile X syndrome.
- NFS has six class levels: Elementary, Middle, Junior High, Senior High, and Transition I & II.
- NFS goal is for each student to graduate with the skills to be employable, live independently, experience personal success, and become active employees and citizens in the Jacksonville community.
- NFS is a registered non-profit organization under code 501(c)(3) of the IRS.
- NFS welcomes all students regardless of race, creed, color, national origin, or religion.
